Naruto resigns from being Anbu but keeps it a secret from Sasuke, instead Sasuke thinks he's just taking a break.
The blond promises that he'll be back and Sasuke gives him his watch, stating that the younger one shall keep it.
But on their (last) Anbu mission together, Sasuke gets hurt when he protects Naruto and almost dies. This is when Naruto erases Sasuke's memories in order to make him forget about everything that happened. At this moment the time stops for the two young Shinobi.
